MEET THE NEW KWAITO KIDS!

THEY are united by their love of kwaito and see it as a baton to be passed from generation to generation.
They call themselves a gift from kwaito legend Mandla “Spikiri” Mofokeng.
He presented them as a gift to the music industry when he celebrated his 25th year in the music scene in 2011.
The group is made up of Sihle Gadiso, Tshepo Hlatshwayo, Zakhele Kumalo and Elton Trollip.
That was the same year the group worked with Spikiri on his album, titled The King Don Father 2.5 and they took their name from it.
Tshepo told SunBuzz they will add some flair and add some lyrical kwaito in the form of various languages from Afrikaans, “sePitori” and others.
Sihle said he grew up writing other artists’ songs until he realised he could write lyrics for himself.
Tshepo said the likes of Spikiri, Trompies and other kwaito artists have built kwaito up to what it is today.
He said people who say kwaito is dead are often the very same people who can be found dancing to it.
He said they will upgrade their album, Muzzie Bou, meaning building music, to give it some extra appeal.
“The album we released in March is more lyrical and addresses issues that people can relate to,” Tshepo said,
The four member group say they see themselves as the new Trompies.
Elton said they met while working on Spikiri’s album.
They perform under the label Kalawa Jazmee and recently performed at Spikiri’s annual Christmas party in July which toured Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
