No more Houdini stunts!

IN March, this black mamba caused panic and made national headlines after disappearing from his enclosure at the Pretoria Zoo.
For weeks, there were fears he was hiding and could strike at any time.
The snake was even named Houdini, after legendary American escape artist Harry Houdini.
But to everyone’s relief, the 2 metre-long snake was recaptured on 7 April after being found in the reptile park’s service area.
And yesterday, Houdini’s long adventure finally came to an end when he was put back in his terrarium by zoo officials.
The zoo’s Craig Allenby expressed relief that the snake was finally back. He said while Houdini was missing there was never any real threat to the public.
“We had a number of experts on board who know the behaviour of mambas,” he said.
Craig says many people still visited the zoo while the mamba was missing.
Talking about the future, Allenby told Daily Sun: “We did a huge investigation to find out how it actually got out. The experts we brought in recommended measures to prevent another snake from escaping.”
